Cycling New Zealand
Enhance your holiday by hiring a bicycle to explore one of our many scenic trails. New Zealand offers many fantastic cycle ways ranging from easy trails for all the family to enjoy up to more challenging grades in some of our stunning forests. Whether you wish to cycle on a short trail, on an all-day adventure or simply around one of the country towns or major cities, a bike will give you the freedom to travel at your own pace and explore areas a motorhome simply cannot get to.
Bicycle Racks can be fitted to any model vehicle in our fleet and should be ordered from Coastal Campers at the same time as your vehicle. A maximum of 3 bicycles can be carried on all 6 and 4 berth motorhomes.
Bicycle Hire and accessories are available at Natural High’s convenient Auckland Airport location. See their website for range and pricing and get fitted to a bike correctly for maximum enjoyment.
You can also bring your own bicycles or hire from local operators based at many of the trails throughout NZ.
New Zealand cycling rules can be found online at the Land Transport Safety Authority website. Rules include the compulsory wearing of helmets (issued with your bike hire) and riding on the left hand side of the road. Cycling is not permitted on motorways.
Have Sun Sense while riding. Be aware of the damage caused by the New Zealand sun, which is extremely harsh. Even on seemingly harmless cloudy days, you should wear a hat and sunscreen. New Zealand has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world due to the location of the ozone hole, Cover up!!!
